Grammy Winner Crashes in Small Plane
According to US media, including FOX 17 and News Channel 5, Brett James was one of three passengers in a small plane that crashed on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Tragically, there were no survivors. The news of his death was also confirmed by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). In an emotional Instagram post, the organization wrote: "Brett, your ASCAP family misses you dearly. Thank you for your unforgettable music." Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that in addition to Brett James, his wife Melody Carole and their daughter Meryl Maxwell Wilson were also onboard the plane.
