In an Aug. 8 interview on Soft White Underbelly, Mikayla Thornton accused her father, ex-member Kevin Thornton, of raising her and her siblings in a tightly controlled, religious household she likened to a cult. She says children were disciplined with a Bible and a so-called "rod of correction," forced into exorcism-like "deliverances," and that some siblings were treated as outcasts. Mikayla also alleges she was allowed to date a 20-year-old when she was 15 and says child welfare was sometimes alerted though no charges followed.
