Summer traditions and memories

Balmoral, in the Scottish Highlands, has been a royal summer refuge since Queen Victoria’s time after Prince Albert bought the property in 1852. The children are expected to enjoy the River Dee and outdoor pursuits like fishing, riding and picnics — the same activities that defined past generations. William and Kate have previously shared unseen family photos taken at the estate, including images with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain

One day before William and Kate’s arrival, it was revealed that Prince Harry (41) and Meghan (45) plan an extended move back to the U.K. this month. Archie (7) and Lilibet (5) are expected to start school in Britain in September. The couple will keep homes in Montecito and Portugal while establishing a private, non-royal base in Britain; exact locations and school details remain private. King Charles was informed on August 16 and reportedly looks forward to more family time in a personal setting. It’s believed Meghan has not previously visited Balmoral, where Queen Elizabeth spent many Augusts and where she died in 2022.
