Officials granted a full RAVEC review of Harry’s protection in December 2025, but PEOPLE was told the review hadn’t concluded by late June. RAVEC’s rules call for annual Risk Management Board checks, yet Harry’s last review was nearly seven years ago. The couple lost public-funded police protection in 2020, and Harry had said in May 2025 he couldn’t "see a world" in which he would return his family to the U.K. without suitable security.
King Charles was informed of the plans on Aug. 16 and is said to welcome more private family time; the monarch also confirmed their status as private, non-working royals remains unchanged. A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess declined to comment on security.
