Enjoying life at 77

At 77, Nancy told listeners on Thursday, Aug. 20 that she’s “mellowed out” and is allowing herself pleasures she’d postponed. She said she spent 32 years trying to save her husband and now feels she deserves to have fun.

A long fight with demons

Married in 1983, Nancy described George as a good man who struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse. She said she stayed to lead him back to God, practiced patience instead of nagging, and later wrote a 2023 memoir, "Playin' Possum: My Memories of George Jones," about their life together.
