Camilla remembered visiting a Maggie’s centre shortly after the King’s diagnosis and feeling she couldn’t speak about it. The visit followed her official opening of the new Royal Free centre in January 2024, after Charles had surgery; she told reporters he was coping and doing his best, according to royal correspondent Richard Palmer.
As Maggie’s president since 2008, she said the experience gave her a deeper connection to people using the centres. She admitted she wanted to confide but restrained herself to protect the family’s privacy.
