A tragic event has struck the western coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife, causing deep shock among locals and visitors alike. Near Los Gigantes, four individuals were swept away by a powerful wave, leading to their deaths, while another remains unaccounted for. Initially, authorities confirmed three fatalities.

The Incident

The accident occurred shortly after 4 PM at a popular natural pool in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At the time, many visitors were enjoying the area, both on the rocks and in the water, when an enormous wave suddenly surged, pulling them into the depths.

Search and Rescue Efforts

According to emergency services in the Canary Islands, several people were carried off by the force of the water. Reports suggest that among the victims were foreign tourists. A rescue helicopter was able to retrieve one individual alive, while another was found deceased. A total of four fatalities have been confirmed.

Initially, the deceased included two men and a woman—one man was 35 years old, and the woman was 55. Sadly, another woman later succumbed to her injuries after being resuscitated and airlifted to a hospital. It's unclear whether any Germans were among those lost.
