Lease details and family plans

In July 2025 William and Kate signed a 20-year lease for the eight-bedroom Georgian home and moved in October 2025. They pay roughly $410,691 a year, with rent reviews every five years, quarterly payments and no upfront deposit. The report explains landlords typically meet short-term lease refurb costs, which is why The Crown Estate funded the works; the couple paid for some internal updates and the move privately.

Staff lodge and fresh start

The family also rents Staff Lodge 1 for about $26,470.32 a year; the two-bed terrace began its lease in August 2022 and was renewed in May 2025 for an employee who may be their long-time nanny. The move followed a difficult period connected to Adelaide Cottage and the royals marked the fresh start by thanking builders at a local pub in October 2025.
