According to Bondi, federal prosecutors in New York were asked to examine whether additional criminal activity could be pursued. She said, 'At one point, we asked Jay Clayton in the Southern District of New York to open an investigation.' When asked about the probe's status she responded, 'I don't recall.'

Unanswered Questions Remain

Bondi insisted the Justice Department ultimately released roughly three million pages and acknowledged concerns about possible co-conspirators 'always' existed. She emphasized prosecutors must pursue any credible evidence. Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial; Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted and sentenced for her role in recruiting and grooming underage girls.
