Royal security is in the spotlight: five protection officers were reportedly barred from royal residences after complaints about misogynistic comments at Kensington Palace. Read on to discover the full story!

What was alleged

Reports say the officers made inappropriate remarks between August 2023 and September 2024, including an alleged comment that Kensington Palace was "full of little Hitlers." One officer reportedly asked a female palace employee to be Facebook friends; that employee first complained in October 2024. Sources told the press the remarks were seen as misogynistic but were described as tame and not sexual in nature.

Investigations and consequences

The Sun reported the initial ban on May 30, while the BBC later said more than 20 officers received restricted duties and misconduct notices over separate claims they fell asleep or left posts at Windsor Castle. The Metropolitan Police investigated and say the behaviour fell below expected standards; the officers received "reflective practice" as part of the internal outcome.
