Recent surveys show trouble for the administration: a New York Times/Siena poll put approval at 38%, the lowest of his second term, and a Gallup finding reported only 16% rate the economy as "excellent" or "good." When asked about Americans' financial struggles in negotiations with Iran, the president said, "Not even a little bit," adding, "I don't think about anybody." Wiles reportedly convened a secret April 20 meeting with GOP figures to intensify preparations ahead of a tough midterm cycle.
