Who’s behind it

Screenwriter Matt Charman, known for Bridge of Spies, is writing the Netflix adaptation. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will produce the film through Archewell Productions alongside Tracy Ryerson, who oversees scripted content for the company.

Why this matters to Harry and Netflix

The project is part of Archewell’s multi-year first-look deal with Netflix. Harry’s connection is personal: he served two tours in Afghanistan, including Helmand in 2007–08 (a tour cut short when his presence was revealed) and a return tour in 2012. In his 2023 docuseries he said witnessing wounded service members changed his perspective on the cost of war.
