Longet moved with the children to Aspen in the 1970s after forming a relationship with skier Spider Sabich. In 1976 Sabich was shot and later died; Longet said the shooting was accidental and was sentenced to 30 days for misdemeanor negligent homicide. Williams publicly supported her during the trial and testified on her behalf.
The kids—Noelle, Christian and Bobby—were reported to be about 12, 10 and 6 in 1976. Bobby was named for family friend Robert F. Kennedy; the couple were present at moments surrounding his assassination and attended his funeral. Christian died in Costa Rica on July 23, 2019; he was a Stanford graduate, started a teak farm and was father to daughters Rachelle and Sarah. Williams died in 2012 of bladder cancer, and Longet's death was announced May 14, 2026.
