Following Diana’s example

Harry drew a line to Princess Diana’s own minefield visit in Angola nearly 30 years earlier; Diana, who died in 1997 at age 36, walked through cleared paths to raise awareness about landmines. "When my mother visited Angola nearly 30 years ago, deminers carried out their work on their hands and knees to uncover hidden explosives," he said, noting that "now they’re also using drones, AI and robots for greater precision and protection."

Hope and remembrance

During the trip he paused at Bucha’s memorial to civilians affected by the 2022 occupation and observed that much of the surrounding land is now cleared. "This isn't just progress — it's lifesaving," he said, praising HALO’s role in helping farmers and enabling displaced people to someday return to safe communities.
