The filings say Kovco also made explicit threats against Barron Trump and warned he would “hunt” Secret Service agents. In a message to the CIA dated August 15, 2025, he allegedly admitted, “I am plotting to kill the president … in an ambush,” and later wrote he had intent to carry out an assassination.

Investigation and Charges

Authorities say Kovco included his phone number and email in the messages, which helped identify him. After agents visited his home, additional messages were allegedly sent. He was arrested on April 3 and, per an April 9 DOJ release, charged with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce — a crime that carries up to five years if convicted.
