During his tenure from 2009 to 2017, Obama enjoyed worldwide respect and admiration for his vision of cooperation, democracy, and progress. Now, years after leaving the White House, he is vigorously defending the core values of American democracy - particularly against the threat that he believes Trump poses.

After Obama remained largely in the background during Trump's first term (2017-2021), he has now raised his voice.
