What exactly happened?

The school administration of Columbia Heights confirmed that the boy, Liam Conejo Ramos, was arrested on Tuesday when he was just coming home from kindergarten with his father. Eyewitnesses share a video of a man dressed in black tugging at his backpack.

Family and Authorities

The father reportedly fled on foot but was later apprehended. According to reports, an officer stayed with the child — for safety reasons, as explained by the Department of Homeland Security. Another adult apparently requested to keep the child, but the officers refused. Attorney Marc Prokosch said an asylum application was in progress.
