Before his tenure in Monaco, Didier Guillaume was a well-known politician in France. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Minister of Agriculture, but stepped down after a cancer diagnosis. It was only in September 2024 that he assumed the position of Minister of State in Monaco. For his commitment, Prince Albert posthumously appointed him Commander of the Order of Saint Charles.

A Painful Loss for Princess Charlene

Princess Charlene had already suffered several personal losses in recent years. In 2019, she lost two close friends, and in 2021, her good friend King Goodwill Zwelithini passed away. The death of Didier Guillaume, therefore, must have hit her particularly hard.

The Principality of Monaco commemorates a man who, in a short time, left a lasting impression.
