King Charles III is known for his love for his Highgrove Estate. However, less well known is that on the estate grounds there is a converted 17th-century farmhouse where no one lives. The so-called Barley Court does not serve as a residence but fulfils a very different role.
Barley Court has been transformed into studios and workshops. Here, The King's Foundation runs courses and educational programs. The focus is on traditional crafts like woodworking or textile work, which are deliberately preserved and passed on here. Recent insights into the building reveal rustic brick walls, wooden beams, and a rural character.
However, the official headquarters of the Foundation is located in Dumfries House in Scotland. The estate was rescued from sale in 2007 and extensively restored with the help of donations. Since then, it has served as a center for numerous educational and cultural projects.
