Vipflash Start Privacy Policy
Vipflash Start is a Chrome new-tab extension that replaces the default new tab page with a customizable start page showing search, time, date, weather, editorial content tiles, shopping shortcuts, and optional social-feed shortcuts.
What data the extension uses
- Geolocation, only if the user grants permission, to show local weather and local place context on the new tab page.
- Extension storage to save user settings such as feed URL, custom links, and display preferences.
- Host permissions to load Vipflash-managed feed data and selected third-party API responses needed for weather and geocoding.
How geolocation is used
If enabled by the user, the extension reads the device location through the browser in order to request weather data and a human-readable location label. Location is used only for this feature and is not required to use the rest of the extension.
How storage is used
The extension stores user configuration in Chrome storage so the selected start-page settings persist across sessions. This may include the chosen feed endpoint, custom sidebar links, and similar layout preferences.
Remote content and host access
The extension requests remote content from Vipflash endpoints and selected weather/geocoding APIs in order to render the start page. These requests are used to retrieve data and content only. The extension logic itself is packaged with the extension and is not updated by downloading remote JavaScript as extension code.
What we do not do
- We do not use the extension to read unrelated browsing history.
- We do not sell personal data collected by the extension.
- We do not require geolocation for the core new-tab functionality.
Third-party services
Depending on configuration, the extension may load data from Vipflash services and third-party APIs such as weather and geocoding providers. These services may process network requests as necessary to return content to the extension.
